Varsity is the annual Cambridge vs Oxford game, which takes place in late February or early March. All four university teams (Women's Blues and Panthers and Men's Blues and Lions) play against their equivalent at Oxford in what has become the biggest event of the year for the club. It is hosted by the universities on alternative years, so if the 2018 Series was played at Oxford, the 2019 Series will take place in Cambridge. Historically, all matches have been extremely close, most of them being resolved in over time or even double over time in the past few years. Friends, family and fans are always welcome and encouraged to attend the event and support their team. We are very pleased to have seen the crowd grow every year in Cambridge, giving the players that extra bit of energy that only comes from hearing them. For those who cannot be there, a livestream, usually through Facebook, is on air for the duration of all four games.
The day will tip off at 10:00 with the Lion's game, followed by the Panthers at 12:00, then the Women's Blues at 14:15 and finally close with the Men's Blues at 16:30. We encourage everyone to head over to the Sports Centre on Philippa Fawcett Drive as soon as possible in order to support the teams playing earlier in the day. As usual, the stands in the sports hall will be set up to provide ample seating space for the spectators and teams. In accordance with Sports Centre rules, the consumption of food is not allowed inside the sports hall and so we ask everyone to eat in the designated area by reception.
